The Manual Machinist is responsible for performing machining work within close tolerances including the drilling, facing, cutting, turning, threading, boring, and milling on iron, steel, alloy, non-ferrous and non-metallic equipment and parts.
Also, this role has as main tasks:
- The set ups and operation of all types of machine tools and performs all types of layout, fitting and assembly work.
- To use all types of machine tools such as lathes, shaper, planer, horizontal and vertical boring mills, milling machine. Knowledge of machinist’s hand tools and measuring instruments such as wrenches, hammers, scraper, files, scribes, protractor, micrometer, gauges, levels, and squares required.
- Various portable power tools will be used such as drills, grinders. Candidate should be familiar with blueprints, sketches, job cards, mill equipment and parts, forgings, castings, bar stock, plates, rods of iron, steel, brass, alloys and other metals, micarta, babbitt, cutting oils, and lubricants.
- Performs any other duties supervisor assigns.
JOB QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
High School diploma or G.E.D.
Must have a minimum of 3 years of prior experience in Machinist work or has successfully completed a Machinist curriculum from a vocational program.
Has demonstrated satisfactory performance in all aspects of Machinist B work.
Can read and work from blueprints and drawings.
